Questions people often ask

Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist?



No. You can book privately with EW Physio without a GP referral. Simply get in touch by phone or email and I'll arrange a time that suits you.

Will treatment hurt?



Physiotherapy and massage should not be painful, though some hands on techniques or exercises can feel firm or challenging. I'll always work within your comfort and explain each step.

What should I wear and bring?



Comfortable, loose clothing you can move in is ideal. Depending on the area being assessed, shorts or a vest top can help. There is nothing else you need to bring, though a note of your symptoms and any medication can be useful.

How many sessions will I need?



It varies from person to person and depends on your condition and goals. After your first assessment I'll give you an honest idea of what to expect, never more sessions than you need.

Do you accept private health insurance?



Yes. I work with clients insured by Vitality, Aviva, AXA and WPA. Depending on your policy I can invoice your insurer directly, or you can pay for your appointment and I'll give you a detailed receipt to claim back yourself. It is worth checking your level of cover and getting any authorisation you need before your first appointment.

Who will I see?



Every appointment is one to one with Ella Wood, an HCPC registered physiotherapist with a BSc in Physiotherapy and an MSc in Sport Rehabilitation, at the clinic in Culford, just north of Bury St Edmunds.

What happens at my first appointment?



Your first appointment is an unhurried, thorough assessment. I'll talk through your history, symptoms and goals, examine how you move, and explain what I find in plain English. Together we'll agree a personalised plan, and where appropriate treatment can begin in that first session.

How do I book, and can I have a chaperone?



The easiest way is to call 07703 759774 or email ewoodphysio@gmail.com and I'll find a time that suits you. A chaperone is available for any appointment on request, at an additional £5, whichever you feel most comfortable with.

Where are you based and what are your opening hours?



The clinic is at Culford School, just north of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP28 6TX. I'm open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Fees are set out clearly on the Pricing page, with no hidden extras.
